Telecommunications Manager (Since 07/2001)
Responsible for design, implementation, operation and maintenance of all voice, video, data and security communications systems.

  • Design and implementation of a Cisco Systems-acclaimed high-performance optical, wired and wireless data network at a new state-of-the-art civic center. (See Cisco Systems iQ Magazine, Q2/2004.) It was 80% cheaper to purchase and implement than the originally proposed solution and delivers more than 10 times the throughput with many additional features.
  • Continuous expansion of the metropolitan area optic fiber network infrastructure. All core sites and most remote sites have been connected with full path redundancy.
  • Comprehensive data center networking upgrades, including full path and equipment redundancy using optic fiber links. Implementation of new ISP connectivity, VPN and firewall security, and remote video-conferencing.
  • Exhaustive cost analysis and implementation of detailed reporting facilities for the switched and wireless telephone infrastructure. Immediate cost savings in excess of 60% realized.
  • Test and acceptance of many innovative solutions, such as video surveillance and public safety mobile networking. Ensured operational status of Emergency Ooperations Centers.

Network Manager (12/1999-07/2001)
Responsible for operation and maintenance of all data communications systems.

  • Consolidation, upgrade and maintenance of the original electronic mail server infrastructure using Microsoft best practices.
  • Standardization of the entire equipment and wiring specifications throughout all sites, resulting in great cost and administration time savings. Centralization of all server systems in a single data center.
  • Orchestrated no-downtime moves of all data communications to and from the temporary civic center site.
  • Implemented first organization-wide anti-virus security solution on over 600 workstations and servers.
