1. Tanzania Afternoon
Travellers to the savannahs of Africa are in awe of the variety of plants capable to defy heat and draught. To focus on the important things in a picture, one can choose to look at the silhouette of an object rather than at its colorful details. Counterlight exposure is a great tool to do this because it also captures the mood of the moment quite well. Here, the tree with its sparse number of leaves allows a nice view through to the horizon and the sky with the clouds above.

2. Zanzibar Sun
Captured while actually laying in the sun to remember the moment - probably my desktop wallpaper one day.
3. Rapa Nui Volcano
This Easter Island crater rim goes straight up from the ocean to quite some altitude, so I used the sun and the horizon shift to show it.
4. Disappearing Edge
My favorite kind of swimming pool, dramatically captured during an afternoon of wild Pacific Ocean weather on Aitutaki, Cook Islands.
5. La Digue Evening
From this little island one can witness a spectacular show when the sun dips behind its larger sister island of Praslin, Seychelles.
6. Boat Parking
The fishermen on Mauritius leave their boats right in front of a dirty beach. The sun helps to draw your attention.
7. Samoa Sundowner
Beer in hand, toes in sand. Well... more like cocktail in hand, toes on the railing of this beautiful over-the-water bar.
8. Penguin Shore
The rough water reminds me of the cold and the wind when I went to see the tiny Magallan penguins near Punta Arenas, southern Chile.
9. Table Mountain
When in Cape Town, the sunset from up there is as simple yet powerful as they come - intense colors dip into the ocean.
10. Taveuni Moon
Every night after diving, we were sitting in the moonlight to talk about everything and then some while watching the moon rise.
