1. West Beach, One Foot Island, Aitutaki Atoll, Cook Islands
If there's a heaven then this is it. Raw beauty without hotels, beach services, and most importantly tourists,
the Aitutaki lagoon boasts several postcard-perfect motus, each one of them a dream of a small Pacific
island. I am sure that in another life I want to be ship-wrecked here, on One Foot Island. The smallish piece of
land is bursting with dense tropical vegetation, there are 360 degrees of lagoon-sheltered beachfront, and the
water is at a constant 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) - did I mention year-round, with about 345 days
of sunshine? The western beach is my absolute favorite, not the least because of its proximity to my beloved
sand bank about 45 minutes offshore into the water.
