1. La Tour Eiffel The grand-daddy of them all, the Eiffel Tower is the most easily recognized landmark of Paris, France. Built more than a century ago for a world exhibition, it has seen a fantastic upgrade for the Year 2000 millenium celebrations, when the tower was rhythmically lit up like a sparkling wonder candle from bottom to top during the last minute of the old millenium, only to explode at midnight in a fiery wave of breathtaking fireworks running up and down the tower.
